Just as the soft rains fill the streams,
pour into the rivers, and join together in the oceans,
so may the power of every moment of your goodness
flow forth to awaken and heal all beings–
those here now, those gone before, those yet to come.By the power of every moment of your goodness,
may your heart’s wishes be soon fulfilled
as completely shining as the bright full moon,
as magically as by a wish-fulfilling gem.By the power of every moment of your goodness,
may all dangers be averted and all disease be gone.
May no obstacle come across your way.
May you enjoy fulfillment and long life.For all in whose heart dwells respect,
who follow the wisdom and compassion, of the Way,
may your life prosper in the four blessings
of old age, beauty, happiness and strength.(A Buddhist healing chant)
December 27 – A Blessing of Healing
December 26 – Mary’s Blessing
Three things are of the evil one:
An evil eye;
An evil tongue;
An evil mind.Three things are of God, and these three are what Mary told her Son, for she heard them in heaven:
The merciful word,
The singing word,
And the good word.May the power of these three holy things be on all of you for evermore.

“Cantata No. 184, “Erwünschtes Freudenlicht,” BWV 184:
IV. Aria: Glück Und Segen Sind Bereit”
by Johann Sebastian Bach
presented by
Bach-Collegium Stuttgart, Gächinger Kantorei Stuttgart & Helmuth Rilling
Christmas and other holidays may be over, but that doesn’t mean we don’t need blessings. Therefore I’ll continue to post blessings here until December 31 – so you can start the new year with many blessings!
December 25 – A Celtic Christmas Blessing
Song 1:
Now may the fragrance of His peace
Soar through your heart like the dove released:
Hide in His wings, oh weary, distant soul,
He’ll guide your spirit home.And may His love poured from on high
Flow to the depths of your deepest sigh;
Oh come and drink from the only living stream
And on His shoulder lean.And may the hope that will not deceive
Through every pain bring eternal ease;
There is no night that can steal the promises
His coming brings to us.So may His joy rush over you;
Delight in the path He has called you to;
May all your steps walk in Heaven’s endless light
Beyond this Christmas night.(Keith & Kristyn Getty)

December 24 – A Christmas Blessing
Song 1:
“Der aaronitische Segen”
in “Die Lorenzer Motette in Nürnberg”
by Der Windsbacher Knabenchor
The Lord bless thee, and keep thee:
The Lord make his face shine upon thee,
and be gracious unto thee:
The Lord lift up his countenance upon thee,
and give thee peace.(Numbers 6:24-26)
Der Herr segne dich und behüte dich;
der Herr lasse sein Angesicht leuchten über dir
und sei dir gnädig;
der Herr hebe sein Angesicht über dich
und gebe dir Frieden.(Mose 6:24-26)
The Lorenzkirche (St Lawrence Church) is one of the three important churches of the city of Nuremberg.
And if you want to see more of the Lorenzkirche, I found two panoramas of it online:
• Interior of the Lorenzkirche
• Exterior of the Lorenzkirche
Here’s what I think about today’s pictures and blessings:
Out of darkness and destruction light, hope and peace can arise.
Evil can be conquered and even if Good cannot win (yet), things can be made better on our earth.
By everyone of us, every day, at least a little bit.
Christmas days or
holidays or
simply *days* (and nights, too)
filled
with hope, peace and many blessings.
December 23 – A Blessing of Protection
O Lord, grant that this night we may sleep in peace. And that in the morning our awakening may also be in peace. May our daytime be cloaked in your peace.
Protect us and inspire us to think and act only out of love.
Keep far from us all evil; may our paths be free from all obstacles from when we go out until we return home.
(Jewish/The Babylonian Talmud)
December 22 – A Silent Blessing
May the stars carry your sadness away,
May the flowers fill your heart with beauty,
May hope forever wipe away your tears,
And, above all, may silence make you strong.(Chief Dan George, Native American)
And: Happy Solstice!
“The Christians and the Pagans” by Dar Williams:
Amber called her uncle, said “We’re up here for the holiday
Jane and I were having Solstice, now we need a place to stay”
And her Christ-loving uncle watched his wife hang Mary on a tree
He watched his son hang candy canes all made with red dye number three
He told his niece, “It’s Christmas eve, I know our life is not your style”
She said, “Christmas is like Solstice, and we miss you and it’s been awhile”So the Christians and the Pagans sat together at the table
Finding faith and common ground the best that they were able
And just before the meal was served, hands were held and prayers were said
Sending hope for peace on earth to all their gods and goddessesThe food was great, the tree plugged in, the meal had gone without a hitch
Till Timmy turned to Amber and said, “Is it true that you’re a witch?”
His mom jumped up and said, “The pies are burning,” and she hit the kitchen
And it was Jane who spoke, she said, “It’s true, your cousin’s not a Christian”
“But we love trees, we love the snow, the friends we have, the world we share
And you find magic from your God, and we find magic everywhere”So the Christians and the Pagans sat together at the table
Finding faith and common ground the best that they were able
And where does magic come from, I think magic’s in the learning
Cause now when Christians sit with Pagans only pumpkin pies are burningWhen Amber tried to do the dishes, her aunt said, “Really, no, don’t bother”
Amber’s uncle saw how Amber looked like Tim and like her father
He thought about his brother, how they hadn’t spoken in a year
He thought he’d call him up and say, “It’s Christmas and your daughter’s here”
He thought of fathers, sons and brothers, saw his own son tug his sleeve saying
“Can I be a Pagan?” Dad said, “We’ll discuss it when they leave”So the Christians and the Pagans sat together at the table
Finding faith and common ground the best that they were able
Lighting trees in darkness, learning new ways from the old, and
Making sense of history and drawing warmth out of the cold.
December 21 – An Islamic Blessing
In the name of Allah, the beneficent, the merciful.
Praise be to the Lord of the Universe who has created us and made us into tribes and nations, that we may know each other, not that we may despise each other.
If the enemy incline towards peace, do thou also incline towards peace, and trust in God, for the Lord is the one that heareth and knoweth all things.
And the servants of God, Most Gracious are those who walk on the Earth in humility, and when we address them, we say “Peace.”
(Islamic; adapted from the Qur’an. The Peace Abbey)
