Some random babbling about fandom and website stats.
FFNet has provided me with a new toy: “Reader Traffic”.
So now I don’t just get to see that I have 1,037,850 words archived there (with an average of 23,063 per entry, and that I’m on the favourites list of x people and the author alert list of y people, along with the number of hits per chapter and story and the number of comments per chapter and story), now I get an in-depth analysis based on unique hits from unique IP addresses over a 24 hour period.
So here are the stats, and this is where my visitors come from.
I must admit that I am kind of tickled to see that five visitors (or one visitor on five days) from Iran (!) have (has) been reading “The Apprentice and the Necromancer”. Other exotic locations include South Africa and Guatemala. Here’s to a truly international audience! :-bd
I also seem to have almost 1,000 visitors at this blog per month and guess what? “Apprentice” is one of the most visited items on this site. I have to say that I never dreamt that so many people would actually look at my contribution to (inter-)national poetry month. Yay, poetry! w00t
Now it’s time for me to get ready for dinner. And later I plan to write another chapter of “Appetite”. MWHA!
Thanks for taking screenshots. I’ve been wondering how the stats look like, but since I’ve never posted anything on ff.net (I’ve now migrated to Skyehawke) I didn’t have any firsthand experience!
They just introduced the “Reader Traffic” stats in July. They are like a black hole of procrastination. You can have them for all your story, for each story and then for each chapter. And for each month.
*shakes head*
I find it amusing to see which pages or stories visitors look at most of all … and where they come from. Trinidad! Guatemala! *blink blink*
Is Skyhawke another archive then? I’ve never heard of that.
Yepp, I’m a real fan of statistics as well (which says a lot since I *hate* numbers). I can spend whole hours looking at my website stats:) My favourite is wondering at the search terms people used to get to my site. It’s a real eye-opener!
As for Skyehawke. It’s an invitation-only archive, multifandom, friendly place. Like everywhere, HP is really thriving: http://www.skyehawke.com – just holler if you’d like an account.
I think I’d like an invitation to skyhwake, if your offer is still standing! 🙂
Yeah:) Of course the offer is still standing. I’ll sign you up. I’ll take it you want to be “JunoMagic” there? In one word or with underscore?
If they allow the proper capitalisation, I’d prefer “JunoMagic”. If they don’t allow it that, then juno_magic.
Thank you!!!
Interesting feature. While my DC Comics fics have a more global audience, my LOTR stuff is only being read by 35 Americans and 1 Canadian.
And the mpreg is still my most popular story. ;-))
Oh, I know – I was terribly excited when I saw the new feature. It’s fascinating to know that folks in Lithuania, Brazil and Singapore (etc, etc) like to read my writing! 😀
