December 4 – A Jewish Blessing

I will lift up mine eyesBased on “Mountain Reflections” by lfaber at stock.XCHANG.

I will lift up mine eyes unto the mountains:
from whence shall my help come?
My help cometh from HaShem,
who made heaven and earth.
He will not suffer thy foot to be moved;
He that keepeth thee will not slumber.
Behold, He that keepeth Israel
doth neither slumber nor sleep.
HaShem is thy keeper;
HaShem is thy shade upon thy right hand.
The sun shall not smite thee by day,
nor the moon by night.
HaShem shall keep thee from all evil;
He shall keep thy soul.
HaShem shall guard thy going out and thy coming in,
from this time forth and for ever.

(Psalms 121: 1-8; Jewish – source: Tanakh, Jewish Publication Society, 1917;)

I have also written a LOTR fanfic story about that psalm. In case you are curious, here is a LINK.

    I adore that Psalm, it is one that I turn to often when I need assurance.

    I have made a note of the fanfic story and I shall read it today!

    Why are you scared?

  2. juno_magic says:

    I’m working on the translation of the manuscript that ate my life. I’m scared of not being good enough. I’m also scared of being really good. Does that make sense?

  3. lin4gondor says:

    *hugs*

    Yes, it makes a lot of sense. In which case, I pray that today’s Advent Psalm brings you a measure of peace and confidence!

  4. etharei says:

    Wow, really? Yeah, I guess I can see the FlexiSquares template now, but it looks so different with the background and without the usual borders! I bow to your talent ♥

    Thank you very much for the link; I’m going to try out Firefox, myself, just to see what all the fuss is about 😉

  5. etharei says:

    OMG, I can see the transparency!!! *SQUEE* Hmmm, weird dotted lines are appearing under my acronyms 😛 *goes off to play with FireFox for a bit*

  6. juno_magic says:

    Firefox simply has the best “toys” – add-ons/extensions. (The transparency shows up in Internet Exploerer 7.0, too, btw. Only old browsers and lazy users cannot see the whole prettiness of my layout. And I can’t help there. *g*)

    Yes.

    You are really good, as in of a good heart.

    I read the fic only to discover it is one I read before. I liked it then and it seems to have deeper meaning now.

    Great imagery, and I live the way the simple folk are the true keepers of their land. They never forgot their history or their God. Theirs is the true heart.

    very nice.

    Juno, this made me cry. On one level it is deeply true, and on another level does not feel true at all. The world can be in such a sorry shape. Still, I suppose the messianic hope embedded in this psalm is true in any case. It’s certainly heart-rending and significant, whatever you make of it.
