Von guten M\u00c3\u00a4chten treu und still umgeben,
\nbeh\u00c3\u00bctet und getr\u00c3\u00b6stet wunderbar,
\nso will ich diese Tage mit euch leben
\nund mit euch gehen in ein neues Jahr.<\/p>\n

Noch will das alte unsre Herzen qu\u00c3\u00a4len,
\nnoch dr\u00c3\u00bcckt uns b\u00c3\u00b6ser Tage schwere Last,
\nach, Herr, gib unsern aufgescheuchten Seelen
\ndas Heil, f\u00c3\u00bcr das Du uns bereitet hast.<\/p>\n

Und reichst Du uns den schweren Kelch, den bittern
\ndes Leids, gef\u00c3\u00bcllt bis an den h\u00c3\u00b6chsten Rand,
\nso nehmen wir ihn dankbar ohne Zittern
\naus Deiner guten und geliebten Hand.<\/p>\n

Doch willst Du uns noch einmal Freude schenken
\nan dieser Welt und ihrer Sonne Glanz,
\ndann wolln wir des Vergangenen gedenken,
\nund dann geh\u00c3\u00b6rt Dir unser Leben ganz.<\/p>\n

La\u00c3\u0178 warm und still die Kerzen heute flammen,
\ndie Du in unsre Dunkelheit gebracht,
\nf\u00c3\u00bchr, wenn es sein kann, wieder uns zusammen.
\nWir wissen es, Dein Licht scheint in der Nacht.<\/p>\n

Wenn sich die Stille nun tief um uns breitet,
\nso la\u00c3\u0178 uns h\u00c3\u00b6ren jenen vollen Klang
\nder Welt, die unsichtbar sich um uns weitet,
\nall Deiner Kinder hohen Lobgesang.<\/p>\n

Von guten M\u00c3\u00a4chten wunderbar geborgen,
\nerwarten wir getrost, was kommen mag.
\nGott ist mit uns am Abend und am Morgen
\nund ganz gewi\u00c3\u0178 an jedem neuen Tag.<\/p>\n

\nComforted and protected without fail

Dark memories may haunt us yet today,
\nStill evil days bring burdens hard to bear,
\nFrom pain and anguish, Lord, to you we pray
\nGrant us the hope You did for us prepare!<\/p>\n

And if You offer us the cup of sorrow,
\nWith bitterness filled right up to the brim,
\nGrateful, we take Your gift we\u00e2\u20ac\u2122d never forego
\nWe know Your goodness too when life is grim.<\/p>\n

But should You give us joy for one last moment,
\nOf this whole world and all the sun\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s bright shine,
\nThen we will think of how our lives are crescent
\nAnd then our fates will be forever Thine!<\/p>\n

Let warm and bright the candles now be burning
\nYou brought to us in this dark night,
\nAnd by Your grace we may yet be returning
\nTo meet again protected by Your light.<\/p>\n

When wide and still the silence now surrounds us
\nSo let us hear that deep mysterious sound
\nOf all the world invisibly embraced thus,
\nWith songs of joy arising all around.<\/p>\n

By gracious powers wonderfully sheltered
\nWe face the future, come whatever may,
\nThrough day and night our prayers will be answered,
\nAnd certainly God is with us today.<\/p>\n
