By the power and the truth of this practice,
\nmay all beings have happiness,
\nand the causes of happiness.
\nMay all be free from sorrow,
\nand the causes of sorrow.
\nMay all never be separated
\nfrom the sacred happiness which is sorrowless.
\nAnd may all live in equanimity,
\nwithout too much attachment
\nand too much aversion,
\nAnd live believing
\nin the equality of all that lives.<\/p>\n

May all beings be filled with joy and peace.
\nMay all beings everywhere,
\nThe strong and the weak,
\nThe great and the small,
\nThe mean and the powerful,
\nThe short and the long,
\nthe subtle and the gross:
\nMay all beings everywhere,
\nSeen and unseen,
\nDwelling far off or nearby,
\nBeing or waiting to become:
\nMay all be filled with lasting joy.<\/p>\n

Let no one deceive another,
\nLet no one anywhere despise another,
\nLet no one out of anger or resentment
\nWish suffering on anyone at all.
\nJust as a mother with her own life
\nProtects her child, her only child, from harm,
\nSo within yourself let grow
\nA boundless love for all creatures.<\/p>\n

Let your love flow outward
\nthrough the universe,
\nTo its height, its depth, its broad extent,
\nA limitless love, without hatred or enmity.
\nThen as you stand or walk,
\nSit or lie down,
\nAs long as you are awake,
\nStrive for this with a one-pointed mind;
\nYour life will bring heaven to earth.<\/p>\n
